approach to the counselling process. I am

in relationship counselling, child abuse, incest, grief,
depression, self-esteem, addictions
and
career counselling. |
Areas of specialisation
...sometimes the presenting issue is not
the main focus of later sessions...
A relationship problem can sometimes reflect childhood issues,
anxiety may lead to working through grief and loss issues and what
presents as depression may lead to working on self-confidence and
assertiveness skills. So I avoid specialising and prefer to be
holistic, open-minded and focus on whatever is important to my
client in the particular session.
Techniques/treatment modalities used
...the beauty of the very practical and experiential learning that I
have gained with JNI, Lifeline and the Emotional Violence Program is
that I have been trained and can practice in many different
modalities...
I tailor the approach
to the client, most commonly drawing upon CBT, Gestalt techniques,
Transactional Analysis, Hypnotherapy and Narrative therapies.
However, attentive non-judgemental listening and building a
respectful trusting relationship far supercedes technique.
